Buried among the great sea of podcasts, there are some great hidden treasures which I find informative and inspiring as a Buddhist scholar and practitioner and am happy to endorse them. I personally know the editors / authors and can vouch for the depth of their understanding of Tibetan Buddhism and the quality of the content.

These are:

Teachings by H.H. the Dalai Lama on Tibetan Buddhism Podcast: Publishing the teachings on the Official Webcast of the Office of H.H. the Dalai Lama for easy integration into iTunes, its the best resource available to hear the traditional oral commentary from the most prominent contemporary figure in Tibetan Buddhism, the Dalai Lama himself. His knowledge, humility, humanity, sense of humor, and charisma make this a great hearing. More info.

Course on Tsongkhapa’s Letter of Practical Advice on Sutra and Tantra

Course on Tsongkhapa’s Letter of Practical Advice on Sutra and Tantra by Dr. Alexander Berzin: Taught in the context of a german Dharma Center for a Buddhist audience, Dr. Berzin (from the United States) takes the queue from the Tibetan text his giving oral commentary on and expands on the topics covered. He gives consice and exhaustive explanations on philosophical and pragmatic issues. Additionally, It is worth looking at his other courses (also available as podcasts).

Alan Wallace Podcasts: Taught in the context of Santa Barbara Institute of for Consciousness Studies or as a visiting scholar / practitioner abroad to a Buddhist audience, Dr. Wallace attempts not only only to reconcile Buddhism and science (Quantum mechanics, etc) but to present Buddhism as a science in itself.

The Bob Thurman Podcast: Taught in the context of Tibet House New York to a Buddhist audience, Dr. Thurman gives an oral commentary on Indian sutras in a very entertaining and engaging fashion inviting the listeners to lively picture the Buddhist worldview as if they were first-hand witnesses to the miraculous feats of the Buddha.

The Center for Buddhist Studies Weblog: Lectures by visiting scholars to Columbia University, given in an academic setting its a great listening experience to the more intellectually oriented to get a glimpse of the threads in the field of Buddhist Studies.
